so it's been awhile since anyone's posted. i just thought i'd break the ice. if you check this, please be praying for my friend erica sullivan this week. she is being tested for ms due to some debilitating symptoms that have been growing steadily worse over the last few years. her mri is on thursday and i would appreciate your prayers that she would be completely healed, and/or that she will not have ms and instead will have something that is treatable. i will let you know the update as soon as i find out...

Hi guys . . . I had a talk with Diane Bauman last night and she was saying that they really need help with the grand opening of the outreach center. I told her I would talk to my small group and see who was available to help out. If you'd like to, they need help with watching kids, setting up and breaking down. You can volunteer for three hours at a time or longer if you want. I believe the hours are 1-3 and 3-5.

Let me know if you want to help out at group!

so it was pretty dang great to see dan and tony at chad's show on friday night. i always love to see friends at chaddy's shows. it just makes me feel like we're loved...there's just something about getting to hang out with my small group peeps outside of small group that feels nice. that's community isn't it? being a part of each other's lives? anyway- it was fun, despite the apparently overpriced drinks...

well- we heard the little bean's heartbeat on monday. it's actually more like the size of a lemon now...but anyway, it was pretty cool. confirmation that there really is something living in there. it could be an alien...or it could be just named Alien...but its heart is definitely beating 156 bpm.

for some reason it feels like it's been more than a week since we've met. as a heads up, chaddy may be working late tonight so we may have to do worship at the end instead of the beginning. hope that's ok with y'all. also- chaddy has a show coming up on Aug. 25 (next friday) at the basement if anyone is interested in going. I think it's something like $5 to get in. let me know if you want to come. see you guys tonight!

There is a tentative plant to drive down to cincy friday and visit with the Vineyard Central folks over BBQ. The details are as follows. We should plan on leaving town around 4pm to account for traffic and finding our way. Anyone interested can reply to this post and then I will contact Jody with our RSVP. peace

Hi Friends,
The Rains and the Nixons will begin hosting grill outs on the deck on Friday nights beginning Friday, July 14th. We're wanting to make space and time available to build relationships within the VC network and beyond. You can come any Friday or every Friday. It'll be a great time for those of us who are a regular part of the VC family to spend time together, plus meet folks who are interested or have questions about VC. It's a good time to bring friends, and for folks who've been wanting to connect to get to know some of us.
The time is 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the VC courtyard with food consumption at 6:00 and clean up together at 8:00. If folks want to hang out beyond 8:00 they're welcome to do so after the clean up. If it's a rainy evening, we'll cancel that week.
We do ask that anyone wanting to attend do the following things:
1) RSVP each week by emailing jody@vineyardcentral.com or calling 513-253-3439. It's important to us that we know how many to expect, so please be sure to email or call us before noon on Friday. If you're bringing friends just let us know.
2) Bring your own meat for the grill (and bun to put it on) and a side or dessert to share. We'll provide the beverages. This is a potluck so we do ask that everyone bring something to share.

I was thinking about our group and what characterizes my affinity for our times together; one thing that came to mind was how when we worship together the presence of God is very apparent. It is almost like he shows up and just says, "shhh." I love being in that moment when you can feel him there and there is nothing needed to be said. It says alot to me about our personalities and our individual relationships with him. I enjoy that we all have a respect for each other and God that silence can be comfortable.
I know I keep quoting this book but it's just so good; in the Prophet, Kahlil Gibran says this about talking:

"You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts; And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime. And in much of your talking, thinking is half murdered. For thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words many indeed unfold its wings but cannot fly.
There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone. The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape. I am definitely in agreement about praying for the people who work at your starbucks. It's cool that you work there and that it really is an office away from the office for everyone here at the church. I think it really would be cool to think about people and areas that we can pray for that we seem to touch on a regular basis. I think it would be a good practice in ministering and intercessing for our community.

Dan- that is amazing that you got more money for this year. How exciting to see God follow through on His word! It really does lift your faith, doesn't it? What a relief that the responsibility doesn't fall on us! I realize that every so often- it's actually God's deal, not mine. I just have to do what he tells me to...

In other news, Chaddy is gone and I am very sad. He will be in Toronto until Friday and then he has to work all day Saturday and Sunday. I am spending the week with my family in the meantime. My 14 and 16 year old brothers and I spent a nice evening last night watching National Geographic's "In the Womb." It was interesting, and we were all very grossed out by some of the things we saw. I think no one ever really wants to see what food looks like going through the umbilical cord. Who knew it looked like mozzarella cheese? Anyway- you get the idea.

So- we will not be able to have group as late as usual tonight because I will be heading back over to my parents' house when we are done and I need to get some good sleep tonight. Sorry everyone- hopefully we can make the time we have extra special...

hey guys-
i actually forgot about the blog for the past couple of days and then remembered this morning and got so excited again! if you guys are interested, check out chaddy's band's myspace.

they have a song up that they are still working on, but you can listen to it. also- they have a benefit show at skully's coming up on sunday july 30 (i know that a sunday night show sucks, but hopefully they won't play too late). the benefit is for ohio food shelters. i don't know the other 2 bands they are playing with. anyway- i thought i would just put the myspace link up here since chaddy will never draw attention to it himself. also- pray for him because he is going to windsor today and will be there overnight. just pray that he has a safe trip and that the trial goes smoothly, etc.

AND...thanks so much for your prayers for us and the baby! we had our ultrasound on friday and it went really well. we have a really clear picture of the little peanut that we'll show you guys tomorrow night. we saw the little heartbeat blinking really fast. and i think that the sickness and stuff is starting to subside, praise GOD!! it really hasn't been that bad all along, but it's nice to start feeling a little more normal again. I should feel great in a few weeks! talk to you guys soon!

I got a letter today from OSU stating that I am gauranteed a $750 scolarship for my first year based on my current GPA. It's not alot but it is something. Thanks, Jesus.

on wednesday we prayed for my song writing session with Ebin; I wanted to say it went really well. we came up with a really cool song that thematically goes along with the upcoming J-house series on Exodus. it still needs polishing but i think it will be ready to play here in the next couple weeks.

i am so thrilled to see this blog come to fruition. as far as helping heather, i was thinking about how i would feel if i were in her situation and i thought . . . a group of people coming to pray and just hang out would be absolutley wonderful . . . we can show her she's worth more than she thinks she is . . .

i think we can definitely think of some way to raise some money too. it would be a huge blessing to her to pay some bills. i was also thinking that visiting her would be a good way to show her that we want to be a part of her pregnancy . . . to show her that she has a community of people that care about her and her baby.

Guys- I am seriously so excited that we're going to do this. I have wanted to try this out for a long time. I'm not as cool as Dan so nobody would read my blog if I just had an individual one. Now I have a captive audience. Seriously though- I think this will be a cool way to be able to just share thoughts and ideas and stay in contact throughout the week.

I was thinking last night about the ways that we could bless my friend, Heather. I really love the idea of a benefit, but I also think it could be weird to kind of publicize her situation. Do you guys think it would be possible to just do a show like we talked about and ask all of the bands if they would be willing to donate the proceeds to Heather? This way we could just advertise it as a regular show, but we could still give the money to Heather (or we could buy her something she needs for the baby). Plus- it would be fun to put on a show. Let me know your thoughts. I also still love the idea of making her a cake or brownies or something and going to visit and pray with her. I would be interested to hear what you guys think about this.
